Hundreds Volunteer to Help Out the Urban Mission in Steubenville Posted: May 02, 2015 5:49 PM CDT Updated: May 02, 2015 5:49 PM CDT Article
It was a beautiful day on Saturday to help out in the neighborhood and that's exactly what more than 100 kids in Steubenville decided to do to help out the Urban Mission.
Volunteers from the Starkdale Presbyterian Church, the Harding Middle School Leo Club, along with a few others painted, raked, mulched, and cleaned at several locations around Steubenville.
Last year Pastor BobbyJon Bauman brought only a few kids from his church youth group to help the Urban Mission but this year there were plenty of local children ready to step up and help.
"We have so many kids that are enthusiastic to do service in the community, today we have the Special Olympics up there, Urban Mission with the iServe day down here, Bauman says. "There's a lot of people out in the community really doing good work to help folks out."
One of the other big projects for the iServe day was to put together bunk beds that people will use at the Urban Mission in Steubenville. The kids volunteered from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
